In real life I… work in biotech/pharma consulting. When I’m not playing ultimate, I like to hike and camp and look at mountains – I’ve hiked the highest 46 mountains in the Adirondacks and highest 48 in New Hampshire. I enjoy riding my bike around Boston. Also bake pie – I like that frisbee, as a pie tin-based sport, is compatible with this interest. Also like listening to podcasts.
Favorite pump up Jam: Something with Higher Love – Kygo vibes…though the playlist for the best warmup I’ve ever had was just an entire Alt-J album
Tell an embarrassing story: My junior year of college I got April Fools’ Day pranked with a mayonnaise filled Boston cream doughnut while trying to win a relay race at frisbee practice…the things you love betray you. My senior year, the April Fools’ Day prank involved glitter – I have continued to find glitter in my possessions 6 years later.
What is something your parents don’t know about you? I’ve hitchhiked twice – but only with nice Swiss hikers
- I can recite ~60 digits of pi – throwback to the middle school Pi Day competition.
- In my freshman year of high school I played against USWNT olympic champion Crystal Dunn at soccer state championship. We lost 😦
What is the most surprising thing about playing for Brute Squad so far? shockingly normal people
What’s your biggest irrational fear? Leaving my toaster plugged in
What’s your biggest pet peeves? Cars stopped in the bike lane. Setting alarms for even-numbered times
Who are your ultimate role models?
One of my first frisbee coaches – Manu Argilli; My UVA teammate and co-captains – Alika Johnston and Nada Tramonte
Social Media Bio
Next on the docket for rookie bios we have a player who hails out of Pittsford, NY but is actually the only player who technically lives in Boston. She started her ultimate career at UVA Hydra, went on to win a Switzerland Mixed National Championship in 2016 and spent most of her club career playing mixed on Wildcard. Before she got into ultimate she could be seen playing soccer against the USWNT’s Crystal Dunn!! See her bio for the photo! On the field, she uses her speed and height to make impressive defensive plays. Off the field, she can probably be found hiking, biking, or baking. She even made a cake for herself on her own birthday (don’t worry we also made her a cake). Have you ever eaten a Boston creme donut filled with mayonnaise? If not, Sarah can tell you all about her experience. We are so excited to present to you #31, Sarah Hansen! Check out her full player profile to see a photo of her skying a beloved former Brute. #sorryShellie #donteatthatdonut #shansen
